Sharing our knowledge, changing lives
The word is getting out. More women know that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S. Yet millions are still in jeopardy and don’t realize it.
At least 80 percent of women ages 40 to 60 have one or more of the chief risk factors for heart disease—high blood pressure, high cholesterol, excess weight, physical inactivity, diabetes, and smoking. Amazingly, so do 60 percent of women ages 20 to 39.
Prevention is essential
The Women’s Heart Center partners with its supporters to reach out to women and medical professionals with information that can save lives. Our expert team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians, and exercise physiologists. We are teaching women how to recognize the signs of heart disease, when to seek help, and how to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle.
Sharing discoveries
Our Advanced Preventive Women’s Clinic is dedicated to the special challenges that women at higher risk for heart disease face at menopause. Our goal is to help women better understand the potential danger signs at this period in their lives, including shifting estrogen and cholesterol levels.
Physician education
We want our professional colleagues to have access to the latest research in women’s cardiac care. We regularly publish and present leading-edge findings from Cedars-Sinai laboratories and clinics. At the same time, we are busy training tomorrow’s doctors.
In this way, we aim to improve the health of women far beyond Southern California.
